DUST & ILLUSIONS, A documentary. 30 YEARS OF BURNING MAN

After 1 year of sold out screenings through the states, and a success at San Francisco Documentary Film Festival, here is the 3rd of a series of screenings in San Francisco & Bay Area. DIRECTOR will be in attendance for Q&A.

ABOUT THE FILM: Dust & Illusions explores 30 years of history of the Burning Man event. Born in the underground of San Francisco in the 1980s, the festival became the largest counter- cultural event in North America. It is unique in that it is created by the people who come to the event, the participants, not the organizers, and in that sense it has survived its original ideals/utopias, but the ideas have been eroded by time, pressure from the larger society. The film is a look at this necessary evolution and expansion and questions our ability to stand behind those ideals over a lifetime.

CD Fund Drive- A Burning Opera

Hello friends,

Many of you know that I was in a show this past fall in San Francisco
which was an incredible success.
The brand new musical, called How to Survive the Apocalypse
takes place at Burning Man, the week long arts festival that many go to every
summer.
After an incredible run at Teatro Zinzanni in San Francisco, we got
to work on recording this amazing project in the studio.
I flew out to LA after Christmas this year to record tracks.
Working with the creators of a new musical has been an amazingly
rewarding experience and has fulfilled a lifelong dream. I get to
originate the role by being on this album, which is one of the highest
achievements in the realm of theater.
So needless to say I am thrilled about it and have lots of faith in
the show itself.

We are now raising $7,777 to get our album finished and printed. By
contributing you are actually purchasing a copy of the CD or DVD that
you will receive as soon as we have them to give! And I promise you,
you will want your copy!

Here's how:

Go to our kickstarter site:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/BurningOpera/how-to-survive-the-apocalypse-a-burning-opera-cd-0

Read all about our production, WATCH the AWESOME clips!! You just
might see you know who...:)
Pledge on your credit/ debit card, and once we reach our goal your
card will be charged the promised amount and you will get your
goodies!!! YEA!!

Best of all, you will have just become a semi-producer of an amazing
new production.
THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THE ARTS!
Much love,
Melinda Smart

Last year, BWB's grant program was so successful, we're doing it
again! BWB is launching a $5,000 grant program, and you are invited to

this past year to help jump start civic projects in your neck of the
woods.

We are hoping to stimulate a lot of projects and are offering awards
from $100-$1,000. It's simple. Gather your community, find out what
you care about, and let your imaginations run wild. The deadline for
submissions is 4/25. You can learn about the details and fill out a
simple application on the home page at

http://www.bunerswithoutborders.org

Check out last year's grant recipients by clicking on "BWB Stimulus
